Letters: 'Rainbow Bridge' idea a testament to youth

A huge kudos to the Kaukauna High School sophomore Nick Schommer for his proposal for the "Rainbow Bridge" at the Kaukauna dog park.

It's refreshing in this time of negativity and unrest to read such a positive project is being pursued, especially by the youth of our community.

Boy Scout leads way for Kaukauna bridge

KAUKAUNA — Lack of funding has not stifled some remaining work needed to complete the Kaukauna Dog Park.

The Common Council last week gave an Eagle Scout community service project approval for the construction of a 40-foot walking bridge this spring.

This week, that proposal for a Rainbow Bridge design, brought by Nick Schommer, a Kaukauna High School sophomore, goes to St. Aloysius' Troop 104 leaders for review. It will then go to Bay-Lakes Council-Boy Scouts of America for final approval.

Attention: Dog Owners and Users of the Kaukauna Dog Park

Currently there are no established fees to use the Kaukauna Dog Park. However, we are encouraging users to contribute to the future livelihood of this park.

The Kaukauna Dog Park is being constructed in two phases. The first phase is currently being developed with a hopeful opening date of mid to late February. The second phase of development will encompass the water retention area with a walking trail completely around the pond.
